Imagination, and the fluidity of philosophic and poetic creativity..

ree

How do we stop the endless rotation of mundane thoughts.. how can we create if we are constantly bombarded with tedious everyday routines, influences and monotonous activities, where we are rarely inspired to spark change or ignite the imagination into new possibilities of any kind, my son just started talking to me about why his video game won't download, which snapped me right out of my "inspiration" rant 😅, see how we must balance and zoom in and out of imagination and into the heart of reality, my son sure keeps me grounded to reality, and tests my mind on many levels, I don't know if anyone can know themselves in the same way a parent can, children are the mirrors in-which we get to truly see ourselves and our own faults as humans, they test, challenge, push boundaries, open space within us to accept, receive and give unconditional love, and trigger our own trauma from childhood, the awareness of this allows us to choose and pause in-between the situation and the response, and as the psychiatrist Viktor E. Frankl stated,

"Between stimulus and response there is space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom".

Anyway I kind of went off on a tangent, my writing in non-linear in the sense that I cant always contain it to one subject, okay what was i saying..Okay so how do we get into a creative state, I think we need to spend time alone with ourselves, being busy is overrated and can be somewhat of a nuisance to our inner-self, I actually hate new agey terms, but its not the label that matters, its the intent and the meaning behind the words. I have previously written something that ties into this,

"Solitude is where the mood of your will is satisfied, authentic and uninterrupted. The intersection of moods among other moods make it almost impossible to keep the will of our own mood in succession. Moods among other moods fluctuate in accordance within many complexities, it is in solitude where a being truly discovers the self and lives according to their own demands and authentication. The mood stable, genuine, and in-sync with the will, and the appetite for freedom grows as the individual learns the truest of freedoms are held in the chambers of ones own authority. The independent inquiry into oneself takes place only in the depths of solitude, but it is because one has a reference from outer forces he can come to compare and know himself, the inner and outer are dependent on one another to know a thing."

And this "solitude" has been a focal point for many philosophers and poets throughout time, we need a type of internal silence in order to create artistic expression, and genuine expression of thought, it is in the space that we find the space-less, and in a collection of essays via http://www.scienzaefilosofia.com (Gaston Bachelard, philosophy of imagination) We find something similar, mainly written by Gaston, on the importance of "That space" we need in order to deepen awareness and tap into the spring of creation, and he also distinguishes between the written and spoken word, and oh how I relate to this, my spoken word is definitely not a very accurate representation of me (well not entirely anyway, and how can it be) I cannot speak as clearly or with as much conviction as I can write, it never comes out the same way I process it through writing, the space to truly think and say what you mean is easier in writing for me, it could be my social awkwardness.. I think too much and to fast when speaking, and relax into myself when writing, or is it that i haven't met anyone whom understands my mind deeply in certain subjects? therefore I stumble over my own words trying to explain certain things, oh humans are weird creatures, so it could be dependent on the person we interact with, imagine if we could meet ourselves outside of ourselves, how interesting..or boring.. Does the perception you have of yourself live in reality? Because the perception others have of you could be a world away from the perception you have of yourself, I could turn this one thought into a blog in itself.. but enough rambling and back to the essays..

"The key to this deepening of human awareness through writing is its temporality, the separation of writing awareness from its preconscious antecedents leaves free moments of choice between will and expression: the written word has an immense advantage over the spoken word in evoking abstract echos where thoughts and dreams reverberate. The stated word requires too much force, demands too much presence, it does not leave us the total mastery of our slowness. This median zone where the unconscious mixes with rational consciousness is the domain of creative freedom, for there is where imagination colors or structures our responses to reality. Our awareness of these levels of consciousness as such is the freedom of man as creator in control of his creation. From the perspective of written poetry, the moment preceding expression is one of virtual will:

Then poetry is truly the first phenomenon of silence. It lets live, under images, the attentive silence. It constructs the poem on the silent time, on a time which nothing torments, nothing rushes, nothing commands, on a time ready for all, on a time of our freedom. How poor is living duration compared with durations created in poems!

Poem: beautiful temporal object which creates its own measure.

In its pure intentionality, imagination is a phenomenon of silence, "the attentive silence" behind which lurks self-consciousness. Imagination is freest before expression; and the slowness of writing preserves this spiritual freedom within living duration. Given the relative autonomy of the word in poetic creation, the written poem "creates its own measure" in that its temporality is verbalized spirituality, not the semantic negation of imagination as freedom"

End quote, I didn't actually need to write that, as the quotation mark already indicates that, but i always find myself saying it anyway, so you get to hear it too🤷‍♀️

So the space to be individual and to create is as important as belonging to a community or family, all of it is necessary for the healthy functionality of a person. It is never one or the other, we are dualistic and singular at the same time.

I often think about how lonely I am in my passions i.e. philosophy and rich poetic expression, but on the contrary if I had company here they probably wouldn't materialise in the same way.. And the ironic dilemma of human nature presents itself over and over again, which is in line with concepts from quantum physics, I think poetry and quantum physics are well aquainted in that respect.

The imagination and spark of inspiration should never be underestimated, it is the spring in-which we rise to new heights, internally and externally, psychologically and emotionally. To create is to be alive, creation is the foundation of all existence, it is in the creation that everything else arises, hence in my mind it is the inner poetical dialogue that is the essence of being.. only in one sense though, as philosophical and scientific inquiry reaches further into the workings of a thing, trying to decode and understand them, which to be human it is just as important to analyse, understand and attach meanings to it.

Speaking of meaning, is it through the lens of meaning that perhaps we all are slaves to our moods and desires, some fleeting whist others ground themselves into our woven circuits made of neurons charged by the energy that ignites them, linking together through sequential moments in time, our individualised context of them forming meaning and flowing into the next installments of our perceived images of more desires and moods..

The fluidity of creation and philosophic thinking is what keeps the mystery enchanting.. the chase, the suspense, the unknowing, forever wanting more whilst letting go of previous things, the superb dilemma dances with the sublime irony, we should also laugh at ourselves from time to time, life is also absurd, and to lighten the mind we need relief in the form of comedy.. If you cant laugh at yourself you just might be a total loser.. just joking, but I love to end with humour, life is as serious as it isn't.
